6. Special Circumstances
6.3 Indications for MHP Activation
The algorithm for the MHP starts with a bleeding patient but formal activation of the MHP is delayed until after the initial stat pack has been administered and there is reassessment of the patient.
However, a senior clinician may activate the MHP immediately for the high-risk critically bleeding patients. In these cases, the stat pack is still issued while the blood bank is preparing pack 1/pack 2.
