Jarom, a 24-year-old university graduate from Hamilton, had only donated blood twice before he learned that he was a bone marrow match for someone in dire need.

This World Blood Donor Day (WBDD), New Zealand Blood Service (NZBS) wants to say thank you to all of its wonderful donors.

New Zealand Blood Service (NZBS) will be temporarily closing three of its blood donor centres for three business days during the week beginning 22nd April.

With both his sisters, mother and father professionally linked to the health care sector, civil engineer Peter felt like the odd one out, so he became a blood donor to bridge the gap.

While some people wouldn’t necessarily welcome the idea of weighing one or two kilos more, for Fiona, it actually meant she was finally able to fulfil a life-long dream of becoming a blood donor.
