Amazing Story

Jo-Anne knows she's making a difference

I have always wanted to donate blood. I grew up with a mum who donated regularly. I unfortunately had always had low iron so was never allowed to donate. When I turned 47 I wanted to find out it I was still on the bone marrow donor register. The only way to do that was to go and donate blood as the systems had changed over the years. I booked my appointment with a heavy heart because I thought I wouldn't get accepted but I made it!! I just scraped through with my iron level but I was in and so excited to finally be able to donate blood :) I'm hoping that my iron levels with keep playing their part and that I'll never be turned away again. It a such a rewarding feeling to be able to give something so vital to someone you don't even know but you do know you made a difference...
