What inspired Nic to donate

My husband has donated blood for the last 13-14 years or so which his work encourages. I happened to be at my hairdresser, David's, one day and his wife Deborah Lyall was there. She was the face of the NZ Blood Service in Wellington the year she had given her 150th donation. She was encouraging people to sign up...and I thought to myself, my kids are now older, my husband has done this for years, my hairdresser's wife has done it forever...there is no reason for me not to do it and it is a truly precious, wonderful gift to be able to give. I enjoy going to the Newtown Blood Centre...it gives me a justified 40 minutes 'break' away from my normal routine and the nurses and volunteers are all so friendly and wonderful - it's all a positive, forward-looking, feel-good, worthy, wholesome experience.
