Amazing Story
Ché: I have to look away!

Ché is in her scrubs when I meet her at today's Auckland Hospital mobile blood drive. As a Registered Nurse I imagine she has no fear of needles at all. But when she looks away as the needle goes in I can see that's not quite the case. 'I just try and ignore it,' Ché says, as a way of managing her fear. 'I have to look away!'
Why does she do it despite her fear? 'My mum has always given blood and I've seen a lot of trauma patients need it. It's totally worth it,' Ché answers.
