Blood donation still essential on Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Day
As an essential service, NZBS needs more than 4000 donations nationally each week to keep pace with demand for blood and blood products.
So on Monday, September 26, New Zealand Blood Service (NZBS) donor centres will continue to be open during the one-off public holiday announced to honour the late Queen Elizabeth II.
Please keep your appointment if you are booked to donate at one of our donor centres on Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Day.
Some mobile drives scheduled to take place on Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Day, however, have been cancelled and donors at the impacted mobile drives will be notified so we can reschedule their appointments.
Selected donor centres will also be collecting blood donations on Saturday, September 17 and 24 to ensure we are able to meet weekly requirements following the cancellation of the mobile drives on Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Day.
Please let us know ahead of time if you cannot keep your appointment, as we can try to fill your appointment space.
To book an appointment to donate, visit nzblood.co.nz, download the NZ Blood App or call 0800 448 325.
