An award-winning app for New Zealand donors

Since the NZ Blood Donor App launched in June last year, thousands of you have been booking your own appointments, using your digital ID and viewing your donation history. But did you know that the app is completely bespoke, designed especially for New Zealand blood donors? After speaking to more than 300 donors our Marketing and Information Services team worked closely with app developers Sush Mobile to create an app that met your needs. We’re pleased to announce that we recently won the Best Medical Mobile Application at the 2016 MobileWebAwards.

In one of the most popular features on the app, whole blood donors receive a notification when their blood has been used to help save someone’s life. As platelets and plasma are often pooled, it isn’t possible for us to identify exactly when your donation works its magic. We’re sorry we can’t offer these notifications to our plasma and platelet donors, but rest assured that we value every single one of your precious donations. With doctors finding more and more uses for platelets, plasma and its products every year, patients constantly need your lifesaving donations.
