Amazing Story

Jamie's Story

When he was 17, my brother Caleb got aplastic anaemia. He needed a lot of blood products to help him recover. Then he had chemo as well, and needed still more blood products. Finally, he needed a marrow transplant, and who better to donate marrow than his brother?
Both of us brothers got tested, we were both matches, but the other brother was in London, so I got there first. After the marrow transplant and more blood products, he recovered and is just fine now.
Nowadays, despite being better, he isn't able to give blood. The other brother is too busy to give blood. My father can't give blood because his blood pressure is too low. My mother can't give blood because her blood pressure is too high.
So I'm the only person in the whole family who can give blood. Which is why I give blood, to return the favour that so many other people did, which gave us back my brother. So THANKS!
