Amazing Story

Koroniria's donor story

I have been a plasma donor for 25 years and had my 240th donation last Fri 15 May. It means a lot to me contributing to the quality of life for many who depend on donors. It could be our parents, children or neighbours that need our help, it could even be us. Being of Ngati Kahungunu/Tuhoe descent it would be great to see more Maori donors who contribute regularly. I have also been on the bone marrow register since 1999. I am 51 and with good health hope to be donating plasma until the cut off age of 76. What do I get out of it? Happiness knowing my contribution can help others. I call it my community service because that's all I can do for the community. I feel wonderful and at times feel I gain more than the donors.
