Why Alishia will be giving back

I have been a blood donor for many years (since my early 20's) and recently have had severe anemia and excessive blood loss. I ended up having to have two blood transfusions and two iron transfusions on my admission to hospital, the bleeding was that out of control! Since then I've had major surgery but as soon as my 12-month deferral is up, I'll be donating again... those transfusions were lifesavers and as a blood donor myself, I didn't truly recognize this until I ended up needing it!
