Amazing Story

Christopher's donor story

NZ Blood 300+ Donor 13.06.12 26
As a 10 year old, I received a donation following a tonsillectomy and started donating in 1969/70.
I have subsequently given 102 donations.
My wife had Non-Hodgkins lymphoma and required several donations to help keep her alive. Sadly, she did not survive.
Whenever she received a transfusion, I silently thanked the person who donated it.
Donating has always been a pleasure and at no time a chore.
Thank you for the marvellous staff you have and their dedication.
After one donation, the syringe was removed and the gauze placed on the 'hole'. Unfortunately, the wound did not close and the arm of my white work shirt was covered in blood.
The staff took my shirt and rinsed it, dried it over a heater and had it wearable in time for me to go back to work.
Thank you all.
Christopher Deane
