Amazing Story

Linda's giving back

NZ Blood WBD 2011 330
Due to a horse riding incident in 2003 I broke my back (Burst fractured 3 Vertebrae) and was transferred from Waikato Hospital to Auckland Hospital.

Thanks to an excellent Surgeon/Team and blood donors, I made a full recovery and am able to walk unassisted.

Despite all that was going on, I clearly remember the staff being informed of the Blood transfusions I had required and seeing some kind soul's lifesaving blood being transferred to me.

I then vowed and declared I would do my bit and have been a regular donor since my scary experience.

I truly look forward to and thoroughly enjoy going to the Blood Donor Centre at the Waikato Hospital. The staff are awesome and always so kind and extremely professional. Their compassion even shows towards my adored Hubby who has Alzheimer's and accompanies me. Staff kindly keep an eye on him for me and give him a hot chocolate and bickies.

To be a Donor is such a small ask for such huge need.

Kindest regards,
Linda Joyce.
