Amazing Story

Peter knows he's making a difference

My first donation was in November 1983 when a group of workmates took me along. I then went along each time they went. Then came the donation that was different, instead of the normal large collection bag it was a group of smaller bags. I was told there was a wee child in neonatal that needed it. It was this that gave me a real sense of worth and a desire to make a difference. I changed from just drifting in once every four or five months to became a regular donor every twelve weeks.

I have never had a lot of spare cash that I could donate enough to a charity to make a real difference but I do have time and a supply of lifesaving blood. By giving blood and more recently plasma I know that I am making a real difference to some people's lives and that gives me a great deal of satisfaction.
