Amazing Story

Eric has donated 310 times

I started giving blood in the UK whilst in the Royal Air Force in 1959. When I came to NZ, I decided to carry on with the donations, moving from whole blood to plasma, then to platelets. I got to the stage of really looking forward to the experience; meeting the nurses and getting to know them all. I'm at the stage now, at age 76, where I have to call it a day, having given 310 donations, which I hope, in some small way, have helped some less fortunate than me to recover. I always said my reason for donating was, I could very possibly need the services myself one day. Until then I am very pleased to have been of use.
