Every little helps

I have been giving blood for 30 yrs, I started giving at the Gisborne hospital.
At 15 my dad who had survived a type of leukaemia said how he was alive because people had given blood that he needed while having some of the surgery and he wished he could donate blood to give back but due to the cancer he could not.
My dad could not give blood but I could it started as me paying back for helping my dad then just became a really easy way to help other people as those before had helped my dad.
As a Fire Fighter I see a lot of people who need to be give blood so am constantly aware of the need to give.
