Amazing Story
Giving blood runs in Jo's family
I started giving blood because my Mum and Dad were active blood donors. Starting in my 20’s I guess it was my way of giving back to society and contributing to charity without a monetary cost. I also luckily never had a problem with needles and always had warm fuzzies after giving blood, knowing that I was truly helping people who needed it.
Now I give to honour my Mum's memory. She passed away suddenly last year from a stroke, and as she was such an active blood donor we had had the conversation as a family about organ and tissue donation. So after Mum passed we were able to donate her eyes and she’s now gone on to save the eyesight of four people, including one baby.
Mum was an active blood donor right up until the end, and I now carry on her legacy, religiously giving blood every three months. I give to honour my Mum
