Why Helen continues to donate

I began with donating whole blood 40 or so years ago and moved onto platelets and now plasma. I started donating because it seemed a good thing to do. There have been times when I think "oh I don't want that needle in my arm any more" but then I think "well I would have the needle if I needed the blood" or else I hear of someone who has had a need for blood and while a realise it is not my blood product they are having I just cannot bring myself to give up....thinking....."if not me then who??" So having clocked up over 200 donations I think I will be going for a while yet.
