Amazing Story

Sandie's donation story

Profile pic
I first began donating way back as a teenager, and thought it was a fun thing to do with my friends. As I matured, I felt that this was something I could do (sort of) anonymously to help others, without incurring any real cost to myself. It's also a simple way to measure my own health in terms of the hemoglobin level that's recorded before I donate every time. I wonder if there is some value to me in replacing a portion of my blood periodically, keeping my own supply quite fresh. I also have to admit to enjoying the guilt-free chocolate biscuits after the donation! Now that I'm older and the numbers are reaching a good milestone, that milestone has become my main focus - (I'm in my 90s for donations!)
