Kaye started donating her O- blood in the 1980s

It was back in the late 1980's and I was working at Coachwork International, Palmerston North and the mobile centre set up in our Cafeteria on a regular basis, one of my co-workers was telling me about it, and I knew that my father had a blood type that the Donor Centre needed and used to be rung and collected from work on a regular basis, so I decided to donate and see what blood type I was - which turned out to be O RH Negative - and aside from when I have had surgeries and not been able to donate, have done so since
