Amazing Story
50 donations and going strong!

I started donating in Wellington when I first started my apprenticeship with the Ministry of Works in 1969. We had a Red Cross person address our group about donating blood and the hospitals requirements. Even though I was a common type more is required than less and felt this was something as a Scots person newly living in NZ I could contribute to in a meaningful way.
I recently completed my 50th donation in Auckland which took longer than expected having to wait for sports injuries to heal after acupuncture and the down period required. Some trips back to UK also delayed further donations but was happy to complete my 50th in my last year of work.
I was pleasantly surprised to receive a back pack which I will be using next week on a trip back to Scotland.
The blood service team are always friendly and helpful and it is great to know we are doing our part in helping others.
