Archer's Angels
Five year old Archer took part in his school’s Athletics Carnival last month, earning himself a coveted ‘I’m a Good Sport’ ribbon. Mum Nikki says that although Archer wasn’t feeling 100%, he didn’t give up.
Archer has learned to tough it out after being diagnosed with a rare liver and lung disease as a wee three month old baby.
Since then he’s been in and out of hospital and needs blood and blood product transfusions to help him fight his battle. Archer will also need a liver transplant.
To help him along the way a strong team of family and friends have got his back. ‘Archer’s Alpha Angels’ – a support crew started by a mums group – are giving blood and raising awareness of the need for blood and organ donors.
A very special little boy, Nikki says that Archer melts her heart with touching notes he leaves around the house for her. In one he recently wrote ‘I love my Mum because she is beautiful’.
Brave Archer also has a message for his ‘Angels’, and to everyone involved in maintaining the safe blood supply that he and his family rely on. ‘Thank you for giving us blood and for taking people’s blood out and giving that to us.’
If you’d like to follow Archer’s journey, look for ‘Archer’s Alpha Angels’ on Facebook.
If you’re donating blood as part of ‘Archer’s Alpha Angels’ please let our reception staff know when you arrive so that we can add your donations to the group total.
