Andy's reasons for donating blood

I became a blood donor after a very good friend of mine was in the last stages of prostrate cancer and it had migrated to his bones, to give him relief he was given several full blood transfusions. The difference it made for him in the closing stages of his ordeal was great to see, so I thought one way for me to help out was to donate some blood. I appreciated the large volume used to do this could have been reducing what was available to others. I enjoy the thought that I might help in some small way, the staff at NZ Blood are great and very professional.
