Dion’s father went through a serious health scare when Dion was a young boy – an event that has now not only paved way for Dion’s profession as a firefighter, but also his commitment to blood donation for 30 years and counting.

Every day 6 children and adults in New Zealand are diagnosed with a blood cancer like leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma or a related blood condition – diseases that prevent the blood cells from maturing and functioning properly.

Phoebe Pratt is a real go getter – head girl at her school, leader of intermediate years at her church and regular volunteer at community fairs.

New Zealand Blood Service (NZBS) is proud to celebrate its 20th anniversary with Health Minister Hon Dr David Clark at the Parliamentary buildings in Wellington this Tuesday 31st July, to commemorate the important milestone.NZBS was created and appointed as the Crown Entity responsible for the national provision of all blood services and blood products 20 years ago this month.

Team Red is a New Zealand Blood Service (NZBS) initiative with one simple objective: to make it easier for eligible people to donate blood – a group donation initiative that has been proudly adopted by the Mundy family in remembrance of their late son, Harrison.
