New Zealand Blood Service (NZBS) is proud to celebrate its 20th anniversary with Health Minister Hon Dr David Clark at the Parliamentary buildings in Wellington this Tuesday 31st July, to commemorate the important milestone.NZBS was created and appointed as the Crown Entity responsible for the national provision of all blood services and blood products 20 years ago this month.

Team Red is a New Zealand Blood Service (NZBS) initiative with one simple objective: to make it easier for eligible people to donate blood – a group donation initiative that has been proudly adopted by the Mundy family in remembrance of their late son, Harrison.

Due to lower than normal stock levels of O- blood, New Zealand Blood Service is asking eligible O- blood donors to book an appointment to donate.

According to Vicki Willard, donating blood is the greatest gift to give, which is why she’s been a blood donor for 30 years.

Mareko Ratu was diagnosed with cancer at just five days old – as a newborn he underwent five sessions of chemotherapy and a number of different blood transfusions.
