Tis the season to give the gift of plasma
The festive season is upon us, however the need for plasma doesn’t take a holiday. So we want to encourage those of you who may have some extra time over the holiday season to make an appointment to donate. Or, make it your New Year’s resolution to think about donating regularly – your goal could be to give one more donation than in 2017.
So how frequently can you donate? Donating by apheresis provides large quantities of plasma, and because donors are not giving red blood cells they can donate more frequently. You can donate every two to three weeks (rather than every three months) to a maximum of 23 times per year.
Also how about encouraging your family members or friends to see if they are eligible to donate? You are the best placed person to tell them what the process actually involves - and let them know the needles aren’t as scary as they may sound!
We need another 2000 plasma donors to join in giving liquid gold as the demand for plasma continues to increase. So if you know anyone who may be interested please let them know how to get in touch with us.
Apart from the statutory holidays, the Donor Centres across the country will be open for donations during our regular hours.
So give the golden gift of life this season! Your donation and time is always so appreciated.
