Plasma is used to treat people who have lost a lot of blood from accidents or other trauma and people who have severe bleeding during surgery.
Plasma is also used to create up to 13 life-saving blood products which help to:
New Zealand now requires much more plasma than can be obtained from regular donations alone, so if you are eligible to give plasma please ask about it next time you come into donate.
