Phone scam warning

On 16 May 2011 NZBS has received information about a concerning phone scam. A caller, claiming to be from NZBS, will tell you that you have an appointment to donate blood. The appointment may even be on a day that we do not operate. They will then call you back after the appointed time and tell you that you will be charged a $50 service fee for failing to attend. This call is NOT from NZBS. NZBS never charges blood donors fees and will never call people who are not already blood donors. If you receive a call like this do not provide any personal information to the caller. Please note the time and date of the call, then phone 0800 GIVE BLOOD (0800 448 325) immediately and provide as many details as you can about the caller and a number where we can contact you.
