New TV commercial aims to recruit more blood donors
23 August 2010
New Zealand Blood Service is launching a new advertising campaign to find new blood donors. The campaign includes a new TV Commercial supported by on-line and Adshel (bus shelter) advertising.
The new TV commercial starts on the 22nd of August for an initial flight of four weeks, followed by alternate weeks until the end of October.
TV advertising is one of the most powerful tools for helping the Blood Service find new donors and to thank those donors who give blood regularly.
The New Zealand Blood Service has experienced a decline in new donor numbers of over 20% in the past year compared to the previous year. This TV campaign will help encourage more new donors to come on board to help us save more kiwi lives.
There are two versions of the TV comercial. One is called "Give us a Hand" and the other is called "Cheers Mate".
These versions are consistent with the Blood Service’s marketing strategy of bringing donors and recipients together and taking the opportunity to thank donors for their contribution to the community.

The music for the TV Commercials was contributed free of charge by Canadian band Raised By Swans. New Zealand Blood Service would like to thank Eric Howden and the rest of the band for their generosity in allowing us to use this piece of music which is called Violet Light.
