NZ Blood Service stocks sufficient following Chch earthquake

No urgent donors needed. No facilities for donation in Christchurch. The New Zealand Blood Service has sufficient blood stocks in Christchurch and around the country to meet the needs of those injured in the earthquake. There is no need for urgent donors at present. There are no facilities for blood donation available in Christchurch, please do not visit the Donor Centre or Hospitals to donate.

The NZBS is monitoring the situation and its stocks closely. Should we need more donors we will contact current donors directly, and only if we require additional people will we immediately alert the media and support services.
The NZBS thanks all New Zealanders who have offered to help by donating blood. We urge them to consider donation again in the future as the need for blood and donors will remain over the coming weeks and months.
