Correction from AABB SmartBrief’s Society & Ethics News story 16th March 2011
The New Zealand Blood Service would like to correct the statement made by a UK MP, which was reported by the UK Press Association and included in the 16 March AABB SmartBrief’s Society & Ethics News story “Politician argues against privatizing U.K.’s blood service.” The New Zealand Blood Service has never been privatised – it is a Crown Entity established in 1998 as part of the publicly funded New Zealand health sector. New Zealand is self-sufficient for the supply of blood and blood products and donor numbers are stable and increasing as required to meet demand.
